Smiles on Pediatric Cancer Funding

Our Funding Focus

Our Research focus for Pediatric Cancer is focused on improved detection methods for all cancers, more effective, less harsh treatments, and ultimately, CURES for pediatric cancers. We believe that screening/detection is a primary requirement, and will be our priority in grant reviews. The impact in effective detection programs can be seen in adult cancers. Pediatric Cancers have not been as effective – that needs to change.

To be able to detect the disease, you need to understand the make-up of the disease. WE will focus specifically on this process. As a byproduct, we will work to learn more about what we can use to potentially eliminate the disease, without using a systemic agent such as Cancer. Secondarily, clinical trials focused on advancements toward cures will be aggressively sought.

Funding Requests

Please note we will not release any grants in 2007, as we focus on fund raising activities. We would, however, be interested in ongoing research projects that fit into the strategy of Smiles from Nicholas on CP. Please contact us with details on grant request submissions, as well as our RFI process.

About the Foundation

The Smiles from Nicholas Foundation was started in remembrance of Nicholas Rydzynski, and his struggles with Cerebral Palsy and Pediatric Cancer. In his 4 short years, Nicholas endured so much, but endured with dignity, grace, courage and persistence that any would envy. His struggle ended on September 11th, 2006, after a 4 year struggle with Cerebral Palsy, and a 10 month battle with Neuroblastoma (Pediatric Cancer). more info
